On Thursday, August 5th, The Urban League “Posse” will host a community forum/town hall at which the candidates for the Miami-School Board, District 2, will have the opportunity to make their case to the parents, students, and voters who will be directly affected by the policies of the next Board member. (Download the flyer)
District 2 has more F schools than any other Miami-Dade School District. The next school board member must develop and action plan, with the community, to turn this failure around, and to help our children succeed. The Forum will be held at:
Freedom Hall
8400 NW 25th Avenue
Miami, FL 33147
Time: 6:30-8:30 p.m. at:
As of July 21, all five candidates for the District 2 seat have confirmed that they will attend the forum. Click on the “view” links below to read the candidate statements/bios provided by each campaign.
Format:
Each candidate will be given time to make a brief presentation, and then to take questions from the audience. The forum is not a political debate, and candidates will address the community, not each other. At the end of the event, the Posse will hold an informal straw poll among those participating in the town hall.
