Candidate Statement:
Ronda A. Vangates, Esq., currently serves as District Director for Performance Improvement and Diversity Compliance, Bureau of Curriculum and Instruction for Miami-Dade County Public Schools. She received her Bachelors of Science degree in Political Science and Public Administration from Florida A&M University in 1992.
Ronda began her career of public service by serving as Chief of Staff to the late Florida State Senator William “Bill” Turner, where she framed and analyzed both legislative and fiscal issues concerning growth management, environmental equity, juvenile justice, economic development and healthcare. She went on to build upon her legislative experience by signing on to serve as a member of the
Executive Staff for the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, under the leadership of Chief Calvin Ross, former Secretary of Juvenile Justice. While serving as an Operations and Management Consultant, Ronda was charged with working cooperatively with members of Florida’s congressional and state delegations, by providing fiscal and programmatic analyses of legislation designed to combat and reduce the incidence of juvenile crime.
Having an affinity for the law, Ronda obtained her Juris Doctorate degree from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center, in 1999.
