Helping students start the school year healthy, prepared, and ready to learn.

A successful school year starts before the first bell rings.

First Day Ready is an annual community-wide event hosted by the Urban League of Greater Miami to help students and families prepare for the new school year by connecting them with essential services, resources, and community support—all at no cost to families.

Through First Day Ready, families can access services such as haircuts, hair braiding, school physicals, immunizations, dental exams, and primary care services, along with school and child safety resources from local community organizations.

The event also brings families together for a fun and welcoming back-to-school experience, with activities, food, a children’s play area, therapy dogs, an ice cream truck, and more.

Because a child’s future should never be determined by their zip code or their family’s paycheck. Every child belongs. Every child matters. Every child deserves to be seen.

First Day Ready connects families to:

• Back-to-school health and wellness services
• Haircuts and hair braiding
• School physicals and immunizations
• Dental and primary care services
• Community resources and support
• Child safety resources
• Family-friendly activities and entertainment

First Day Ready is part of the Urban League of Greater Miami’s commitment to removing barriers, strengthening families, and making sure every student has the opportunity to begin the school year feeling confident, healthy, and ready to learn.
