Essay Prompt
Write a 200-500 word essay honoring an African-American youth (age 21 or younger) living in Miami-Dade County.
Your essay should:
- Include the full name and age of the honored youth you are writing about
- Highlight the youth’s accomplishments
- Describe their positive impact on their school, family, or community
- Include specific examples of their leadership, service, or advocacy
At the top of the essay, include the student author’s information:
- Full name
- Age
- School
- Grade
Eligibility
- Open to scholars residing in Miami-Dade County
- Grade divisions:
- Grades 3-5
- Grades 6-8
- Grades 9-12
First, second, and third place winners will be selected in each grade division.
