OVERVIEW:
The uptick in violent crimes in the Liberty City community has prompted the Urban League of Greater Miami to present a community-wide crime prevention event on Thursday, August 7th from 6PM to 8PM in collaboration with the Miami Dade Police Department (MDPD) Northside Station. MDPD will host a crime prevention workshop and discussing recent crime patterns in the community, and Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department will provide fingerprinting for youth. This event is an opportunity for residents to take a stand against crime, reduce their own risks, and empower them to make their neighborhoods safer by collaborating with law enforcement.
In addition to crime prevention, health awareness is also a key focus of the event and includes health awareness activities and a presentation by the Miami Dade Health Department. Various community agencies and social programs will also be on site to provide valuable information on resources and activities that the community can take advantage of.
This event is made possible and funded by the State of Florida, the Urban League of Greater Miami, and the Florida Consortium of Urban League affiliates.
